Under sunny skies, Art in the Garden 2009 showcased the work of 27 artists.
Traveling from across the province and the country, the artists ornamented
Kiwi's lush spring gardens with their outdoor art. On display were
sculptures made of ceramic, steel, stone, and recycled materials.
Furniture made of wood, glass, and wrought iron was shown. Copper, brass, and rusted metals were transformed into
birdfeeders, obelisks, and rustic garden ornaments. Hanging glass panels, rail and timber fencing, and water
fountains added to the variety and uniqueness of the show.
Over the course of the weekend,
hundreds of visitors took in Art in the Garden, delighting in the art, the
entertainment, the weather, and the plants. Moving
from one artist to the next, visitors were treated to a show of Kiwi's
richly landscaped grounds. Whether
drawn to the multi-coloured foliage of the hostas, the massive blooms of
countless specimen peonies, or the dramatic clumps of vibrant red poppies, Kiwi's gardens garnered the attention of all
guests. Fully stocked with healthy, hardy, mature
perennials, Kiwi's Retail Nursery offered potted plants for sale. For
each interested gardener, Kiwi's experienced staff answered questions and
provided suggestions for both sun and shade gardening. Carrying away art,
plants, and inspiration, visitors to Art in the Garden surely weren't long
seeing their own home gardens enhanced.
