Kiwi Gardens is delighted to share the news that long-time friend and exhibitor, Kevin Lockau, has been named the 2009 recipient of the Saidye Bronfman Award. This award, bestowed as one of the Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts, acknowledges excellence in fine crafts. As the recipient of this award, Kevin has been recognized for his sculptures made from glass and chiselled stone which draw together animal, human, and natural forms. Kevin’s works, which are displayed throughout the gardens at Kiwi, will be familiar to those who have visited the nursery. In addition to his cast and carved sculptures, the gardens at Kiwi showcase one of Kevin's permanent installations: a rock wall and pathway, co-created with Kiwi owner Paul Loiselle. For many years, Kevin’s sculptures have been shown at Kiwi's annual Art in the Garden festival. Please be sure to drop by and see Kevin's current projects this Father's Day weekend, at Art in the Garden 2009.
