Bright green foliage has narrow, slightly arching blades. Forms a nice ground cover, suitable for use as a drought tolerant lawn in the shade. Quickly forms a dense mass. {new} siderostica 'Variegata' 45cm. Stunning variegated broad-leaf sedge with creamy white margins and a pink tinge to new growth. H: 18". X 'Beatlemania' 15cm. Prefers a rich moist soil. sempervirens 70cm. Beige. Cool season, clump forming, stiff blue foliage. F: May-June. H: 28". cylindrica 'Red Baron' 45cm. Tender grass, green at base with blood red tops. Full sun or partial shade. H: 18".floridulus 300cm. Tan. One of the most admired when it flowers at Kiwi. Slowly spreads to form a solid and stately clump. Stalks remain upright through the winter. Tolerates shade H: 181" (10').giganteus 'Robustus' 180cm. Vigorous, aggressively forming a very large clump. Showy plumes all winter. Bamboo like stems. sinensis 'Adagio' 120cm. Pinkish white. Compact habit. Narrow green leaves with pronounced white midrib. H: 48". sinensis 'Arabesque' 150cm. Compact cultivar blooms earlier; it forms a graceful, upright mound of narrow green foliage that stays attractive from summer right through the winter. Soft silvery-pink plumes appear in late summer, remaining attractive for months. sinensis 'Blue Wonder' 180cm. Very fast grower, forming a dense clump. Quick to flower, Early and very floriferous. sinensis 'Goldbar' 150cm. Very upright and more compact with very heavy yellow horizontal banding, dramatic. Burgundy flowers bloom mid-fall. New 09 introduction. {new} sinensis 'Gracillimus' 120cm. The best finest textured grass with long, arching narrow green leaves. Short and compact. Late flowering. Does not flower reliably for us. sinensis 'Little Zebra' 0cm. Tidy, compact mound. Horizontal yellow banding and wine-purple plumes. sinensis 'Malepartus' 150cm. Medium fine textured green blades. Purplish plumes are thick and thread-like. One of the showiest. sinensis 'Morning Light' 150cm. The hardiest and best variegated miscanthus for our area. The leaf blades are very narrow with a narrow band of white on the margins. Stunning specimen. Does not usually flower. sinensis 'Puenktchen' 120cm. (Little Dot). Upright clumps of dark green blades, horizontally striped with gold. Similar to, but hardier than, 'Zebrinus'. H: 48". sinensis 'Purpurescens' 100cm. The best flowering variety. Strong upright stems produce large showy spikes of rose flowers in early August. Plants turn a brilliant flame-orange after frost. A must. F: Aug. H: 40". sinensis 'Sarabande' 120cm. Very hardy variety with silvery green foliage, quickly forms a large pyramidal clump. Produces large, fluffy flower heads in early September. sinensis 'Silver Feather' 220cm. INVASIVE. Very strong and early bloomer. Must be contained or grown where it can spread. Very aggressive. Can be appreciated throughout the winter from quite a distance. H: 87". sinensis 'Variegata' 120cm. Another Kiwi favourite. Striking from a distance, medium textured leaves have a broad white band and form a majestic showy clump. Does not usually flower with us. H: 48". sinensis 'Zebrinus' 120cm. Attractive leaves have golden horizontal bands. Conversation piece. Does not flower reliably. Molinia caerula 'Heidebraut' 150cm. (Heatherbride) Stems are a soft straw yellow, and spikelets are tinged yellow forming a 'glistening cloud'. H: 60".caerula 'Skyracer' 200cm. Dense clumps of tall foliage erupt in fall with heavy stalks with fine textured flowers that turn a bright golden yellow. Good for attracting birds. H: 78". caerula 'Variegata' 60cm. Rather slow to establish, but worth the wait. The variegated foliage is exceptional and soft. Easy to incorporate in any garden setting. We have a clump in the rock garden that is always charming. H: 24". Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal' 150cm. A very effective grass, with its tall, metallic-blue leaves. Delicate flower heads are effective until late fall. F: July-Sept. H: 60".virgatum 'Prairie Sky' 100cm. The most outstanding steely blue colour. An arching clump with diffuse, fine-textured panicles. Good yellowish fall colour. alopecuroides 'Hameln' 70cm. Showy, soft arching bottlebrush flower spikes cover the plants in late summer. Very graceful. F: Aug-Dec. H: 28".setaceum 'Rubrum' 90cm. Purple. Regrettably not hardy (Zone 9). Fast growing. The only truly wonderful purple leaved grass . Great for planters this grass is effective from June onwards. . H: 36". scoparium 'The Blues' 90cm. (Andropogon) Bright grey-blue foliage is effective all season long. Fluffy, silver seed heads in late summer. Full sun, part shade. |
