Tom Dean (Edward Day Gallery)

Tom Dean’s original and provocative art-making career was recognized in 1999 with the great honour of being chosen as the sole Canadian representative at the 1999 Venice Biennale. His works for that show included bronze sculptures of eight-breasted dogs and of various parts of the human body, and print works utilizing women’s dresses and newspapers.

Tom’s art has been collected by such major institutions as the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Montreal Museum of Fine Art, and Canada’s National Ballet School. He has been featured in cover articles in Canadian Art magazine, C magazine, and Parachute magazine.

Doug Guildford (Edward Day Gallery)

Doug Guildford was the first prize winner in the 1999 Ernst & Young Great Canadian Printmaking Competition and an Honourable Mention in the 2002 Great Canadian Printmaking Competition. In 2003, Guildford received the Pollock-Krasner Award for his ongoing body of work. His prints are held in such collections as the Canada Council Art Bank, Fidelity Trust, and the Canadian Environmental Law Association.

John McEwen (Olga Korper Gallery)

John McEwen has been exhibiting nationally and internationally for almost forty years. McEwen’s sculptures are in public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada and the Art Gallery of Ontario, as well as corporate and private collections. McEwen’s most recent major public commissions are on permanent view at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, the Canadian Embassy in Berlin and 4th Avenue and 1st Street in Calgary. He is represented by the Olga Korper Gallery in Toronto, where his next exhibition is scheduled for Fall 2007.

Steven White (Edward Day Gallery)

Steven White is a print maker and multi-media artist whose works are held in numerous public and private collections including the Bank of Montreal, National Bank of Canada and the Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery. Recent exhibitions include the Wilfred Grenfell College Art Gallery, University of Newfoundland and Anchor Graphics, Chicago, USA. White is scheduled to have a solo exhibition at the Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery, Owen Sound in 2007.

Catherine Widgery (Edward Day Gallery)

Catherine Widgery was born in Pittsburgh in 1953. In 1975, she received a BA from Yale University and subsequently lived in London, New York and Rome before settling in Montreal in 1979. In 1999, she relocated to Truro, Massachusetts. Widgery has exhibited in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. The artist's work is represented in numerous public and private collections including Microsoft, Roy Heenan of Heenan Blaikie, Montreal, Royal Bank of Canada, Toronto and Musee d'art comtemporain, Montreal.
